The list of puppies

The List of puppies provided by the GDC seeks to act as an intermediary between prospective owners of a Great Dane puppy and those breeders within the GDC with puppies for sale. In order to facilitate the intermediation the GDC has a designated point person who deals with all practical matters, including maintaining an up-to-date List of Puppies.

The DKC has recorded an instructional video titled “Skal du have hund?” (Are you thinking about getting a dog?). The DVD provides prospective owners with a great deal of very useful information, which should be considered prior to, during and following the arrival of a dog in a home. Following these simple pieces of advice will help ensure that the arrival of a dog is the beginning of many years of outstanding companionship, both for canine and man. Furthermore, the video provides sound advice as to how to avoid
unsound dog breeders, whether or not the individuals are selling dogs with a pedigree or not. Are you in any doubt, please do not hesitate to contact the GDC, which will be more than happy to help and guide you to the best of its ability.

The GDC provides a puppy referral service, including all practical matters pertaining to the List of Puppies. Below follows some simple guidelines, which prospective buyers should bear in mind when considering purchasing a puppy:

• Did you visit more than one breeder? – You ought to!
• Have you physically seen the puppies in their natural surroundings? – You really must!
• Have you physically seen both parents and made sure that both are physically and psychologically sound? – You should!
• Have you observed if the puppies appear happy, well-fed, well-nursed and physically and psychologically sound? – It’s a must!
• Have you received a copy of the feeding schedule and have you been adequately informed about the peculiarities of the breed and it’s needs? – You should?
• Have you received a written confirmation that the puppy has been registered with the DKK? - You ought to!
• Have you been presented with a Purchase Agreement that meets with your requirements? - You really must!
